Batman star Christian Bale asked for privacy on Thursday in his first comments since allegations he assaulted his mother and sister at a London hotel, saying the incident was personal.

Looks like Google wants to add another trophy to their collection.

Nothing will stop them from global domination!

Wired magazine reports that the big G has launched a service called Knol - short for 'knowledge' - which is basically a different flavored Wikipedia.

Watch out Wiki, Google wants your crown!

The biggest difference between the two knowledge sharing services is the 'ownership' of posts.

As y'all know, on Wikipedia a person can't really 'own' a post. What you see on Wiki is basically everyone's 2 cents about a topic.

Google's Knol gives you the opportunity to 'own' a post about a subject without 'rejecting the wisdom of the crowd'. And, unlike Wikipedia, your 'identity' must be verified (via a credit card or phone number) before you posts go live. Once an author creates a 'knol', the general public can improve it. People can suggest corrections, edits and amendments to the content. Readers can also leave comments alongside the content.

However, the author is the arbiter of the item itself. She/he can reject suggestions BUT can't delete the comments. There's no limit on how many people can write 'knols' on the same subjects, but the guys at Google expect 'the inferior ones' to take a back seat in search results while searchers encounter the best ones immediately.

Here's the big kicker to us, though. There's money involved in the Google option!

If authors OK it, Google will compensate them with revenue from advertisements served by the company's AdSense program.

Google has said Knol's not all about the money. It's about getting the best info out there to those who need it!

$ure. What ever they say!

Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales spoke out about Google's foray into the space that's been dominated by Wikipedia: "What is the added value? People already can put up web pages somewhere on the internet, put some ads on it if they want to get revenue or not put ads if they don't want the revenue."

There's nothing wrong with a little competition, right?

This is so sad, yet touching.

Reece Fleming was diagnosed with leukaemia back in 2004 when he was just 4 years old.

He battled the disease for years until this May, when doctors gave the 8 year old boy only a few weeks to live.

The family decided to try and help him achieve most of his goals before he would pass. And one of those was to marry his school sweetheart, Elleanor Purgslove.

Reece's mother said "When we found out that we only had a few weeks with him we tried to do absolutely everything with him that we could. Him and Ellie had been 'special friends' for a couple of years but then they broke up. We said we'd have a pirate party, and Ellie came. She went to visit Reece a few times in hospital as well."

Then during a recent laser tag party, Reece "proposed" to his little friend.

After she accepted, their parents arranged a pretend wedding at Reece's home (not the kids pictured above).

The families went out to dinner in the mayor's limousine and organized the wedding with rings and even a fictional certificate.

The kids got married on July 4th. And Reece told his mom, "I can go now," after his wedding wish had been fulfilled.

His mom added, "He was so proud of her, and we were proud of them both."

The following day after the wedding, Reece died at home with his family.

Soooooo sad!

During the funeral, the mourners followed a horse-draw hearse on foot.

His mom added, "Even on the Saturday that he died, he got out of bed and walked to the sofa. He always tried walking, right to the end, so we thought if he walked for us then we would walk for him."

What an amazing little boy.

New York's favorite call girl is on the prowl again... and it looks like she's snagged herself another married man! Ashley Dupré is reportedly cozying up to New Jersey asphalt heir Thomas J. "TJ" Earle, VP of The Earle Companies, who lives with his wife and two tots just minutes away from "Kristen's" home, reports the NY Post. Ashley -- whose trysts Luv Guv Eliot Spitzer brought down his political career -- was spotted entering the Gramercy Park Hotel after a day on the town with Earle, and the two exited the swank digs at different times Wednesday evening -- presumably to avoid being snapped together. Ironically, Dupré and her apparent afternoon date may have slid under the radar if not for photogs waiting outside the Gramercy -- where actress Lindsay Lohan was reportedly staying with GF Sam Ronson.

For one comedy duo, their grand entrance didn't go as planned -- as one actor went from cheerful to chair-fall! The other video shows a high-school actress getting into her role as Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker" -- and staying in character after tumbling from the stage! Tell "Extra" -- which stage fall left you in stitches?
