Hurricane Gustav is taking major star power out of the Republican National Convention as it charges across the Gulf of Mexico and threatens to hit storm-weary New Orleans.  The White House announced Sunday that President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney will not attend the RNC - slated for September 1-4 in Minneapolis-St. Paul - so they can deal with the hurricane situation. The threat of Gustav already caused the broadcast community to rethink its planned coverage of the RNC, which can be a ratings-grabber for the traditional networks and cable news. Network executives are now considering how coverage will change in the midst of the coming storm, as RNC organizers consider the future of the convention itself.  Gustav dropped from a Category 4 to a Category 3 storm overnight, but forecasters warned it could gain strength from the gulf's warm waters before making landfall as early as Monday. "The Insider" will be front and center at the RNC, so keep checking back for more convention coverage.
